Lifestyle and portrait film photographer from Vancouver, B.C.
Emerging Vancouver-based, lifestyle and portrait film photographer Carly Hughes-Horvath, has been inspired and experienced with 35mm film photography dating back to high school. Where she began utilizing this slow practice in a highly fast-paced and digitalized world. This method is attributed to the platform Tumblr, a space attributed to the rise of the aesthetics of film photography in the 2010s. Hughes-Horvath’s continued use of film exclusively speaks to her commitment and devotion to 35mm as a medium. Hughes-Horvath’s work as a portrait and lifestyle photographer is nuanced by the spontaneity and whimsy of her practice.
